Sunny and Warm

Yes Folks, It's as lovely here as I was hoping! And we've checked a couple of things off my list...Sweet Tomatoes and some shopping. I took a long walk early this morning. I have started taking pictures.
There's the Jack a randa (Jacaranda) tree in full bloom.
Sauargo Cactus is blooming as are the Ocotillo!
Flowers flowers everywhere
What more can one say about napping, resting, and not doing much. You get the picture.
My biggest "Woo Hoo" so far: we arrived on time. The Southwest folks at the Omaha airport had no such luck. Their flight was pushed back more than 2 hours.
My biggest "Oh No!" : something major happened to my ipod. That is a bother.

Off to see the World!

Well, maybe not the whole world, just Arizona. I wish I wish Iwish I had decided we could stay longer. 5 days isn't going to be enough time. I'm not exactly sure what all we'll be doing but among my favorite things: Sweet Tomatoes, shopping, the heat, the desert experience and my mom! I'm thinking I'll get to see other relatives, too and maybe get a swim in and some photography. There are some things I really don't like about Arizona: traffic. Congestion in general. the Pollution. I have often thought that I would love to retire down there. The weather is just my style! Warm. But then I remember the grandkids wouldn't be here, and the little list of things that i don't like would be with me always. And, oh yeah, I'm not retiring! So, for now i content myself to visit as often as i can manage. (which this time doesn't seem to be enough)
So my mom doesn't have a very speedy computer, but if I'm patient enough I might get to put up a couple of posts anyway. We'll see. Pictures galore when we get back. Then it will be tulip festival time. More pictures. Ha!

Those boys

More pictures of the grandkids. You can tell from these, I'm sure what kind of fun we had! There always has to be pictures of the three of them together. And I think I always must read to the boys in that pink sweatshirt. I'm getting to the point of not being able to tell when pictures were taken because I always have that thing on. Oh well.

Help

Well we had real live help this weekend...for a couple of minutes anyway. It was good. First there was our oldest who was off to show that he really helps too. There, Nathan, this picture is for you! Then we had brief moments to shingle. Our grandsons loved it! The two boys who can walk were eager to run among the shingles laying on the ground. And those things have nails in them. And splinters. But they worked hard and loved it. The guys did not get all the way up the one side of the roof. So far it is slow going. At this rate, did I not say, it will be a long long summer. Then we have to paint.
Then there's Sundays. Rest. Good thing.

Live from 310 2nd St

This is my version of 'live and in color'. You get to peek inside a visit from the grandkids and their moms while the dads go off and play. (though I'm not jealous in the least because they are all outside in the cold) Instead of playing outdoors/in the park we have another rainy, cold day to contend with and 3 rambunctious, but very flexible boys. Play with the telephone, but Phin, remember-no calling Australia." "now for sure you can get new carpet in here, Sue. I think 3 spit ups counts as a reason to get rid of this" 'Isaiah, do we get to jump on the couch?" "Remember, gramma, when the naughty song comes on we have to turn it off. " (that is apparently a reference to a Keith Urban song, and I don't even know who Keith Urban is!) Bratwurst is a favorite. Chicken and Ketchup go together (ketchup, in fact goes with everything) Phinehas really does know how to say 'car' and can distinguish easily between cars and trucks and loves to do so. Teething makes for long nights for someone, but not the gramma. I still haven't figured the DVD player out and I know I'm smarter than it is! Grandkids may not sit still for pictures, but it's ok, my camera works well even when they're behaving like frogs. It doesn't matter if it's cold outside, if the rain has stopped we must take a walk and get the jiggles out!
I know I was a mom of 3 once, but it amazes me as to how much energy this takes. Being grandma is good. These kids are too!
Pictures. Lots of pictures. Later.

Roofing project

Ok, so everyone who knows us, knows that we always seem to have some sort of project going. We usually do it at the most in-opportune times. Like this past weekend we started roofing the house when it was 20 degrees outside and we were going to get snow. Whose idea was this anyway? I promise, it was not mine! But I must say, it's amazing how warm you get when you're working. As in picking up old shingles and throwing them...somewhere. And the pictures you see here Ron has neatly snuggled our house in after a hard day's work to protect it from the SNOW! and Rain and general ugliness. Of course, at our speed right now we might finish this up before next winter's snows.

I found a great website for my family geneology hobby when I was at PLA in March. I have already found some great stuff that I didn't know was out there earlier. You can check it out for free at familyseach.org Unfortunately, I'm the only one that seems to care. As soon as I dig out pictures or letters or books from my big box people start running in the opposite direction screaming, or their eyes glaze over. But it doesn't deter me from putting together the great family puzzle anyway. There's always one more piece to fit in. It's a never ending thing, but I love it. I often wonder about what these people's lives were like, what kinds of things they did for relaxation, or work, or vacation, or worship. Did they play with their kids? Eat at favorite resturants....And really, all I have is the - between their born on and died on dates. I even love the way the family trees come together...and they just go on and on. The coolest stuff, though is the paper trails that I get with obits and odds and ends telegrams, certificates and pictures. They bring everyone to life! So every time I find another 'free' spot on the internet to get more info you can be sure i'm busy searching it out.
