More pictures Le Mars

Ok so I promise i won't put up anymore tonight. But if you pay attention (my focus for some month) you can truly see some interesting stuff! I love the scene of the wheelbarrow tipped over in the garden. If you zoom in on the picture you can see that the garden had lots of tomatoes! Or how about the guy with the white cane pulling the wagon? Interesting!

Exploring

Today was a very long work day. I went from 8-8. I think i got things accomplished. But at lunch time I actually went outside and ate my lunch at a park. It was a beautiful fall day. I was glad I could spend just a portion of it outside anyway. And Look what I saw! Ok, so the single pine tree is actually on hwy 60 on the way HOME from work but it sort of qualifies. Anyway, I did some LeMars exploring and I found tons of things to take pictures of. I wanted to put a bunch on the library website. I will have to work on that, though if you go to the site, you can see my first try at modifying the header (http://www.lemars.lib.ia.us) But Le Mars actually has a lot going on and I could hardly take too many pictures. Maybe you will want to see a few more. But Later.... It's getting to be past my bedtime!

These are the days of the harvest

The harvest season has its own particular beauty I think. Seeing all this makes me think of the incredible abundance that we're blessed with. Our fields, our bins are overflowing. Even though we don't directly profit from the farmer's own harvest we do profit in the overall abundance that's around us. And sometimes I wonder if we even really notice all this going on since we're not really involved in it other than to be slowed down by those slow moving tractors on the highway. I wonder if people in other areas of the country notice the scenes that are peculiar to their areas.... like those amazing mountain vistas we saw in Colorado this summer. Or a vegetable harvest in California, or logging in the northwest, or whatever harvests happen all over the country...Do people pay attention? Maybe I notice because i grew up on a farm and these cycles used to be part of my everyday life. I would hate to get to the point where I'm so wrapped up in myself that I never see what's going on around me.

Garage work

Another portion of the garage floor went in today. Not only that, they were out there working the cement in the dark. How do you do that? One more section to do. then he can start "building". Ha! It is still a mess. I think I can plan to live with that through the end of the building project.

Sand, dirt,food,and washing windows

We had Kristin and the two boys over the weekend. It's always a challenge for us to keep up with them! Ron had them both outside while he worked on his cement work prep. The boys had a blast playing in the sand pile. They came in the house with clothes filled with sand, their bodies covered in it. They left a trail upside and down. They had to have their clothes washed and they left the whole pile in the wash machine. Another sandbox.
Then there was food. That is always a highlight for them. They think Grandma is so creative. Strawberries added to yogurt, corn 'on the cob' (really fresh frozen) ice cream-everything they could possibly love. Isaiah always asks the night before "what's for breakfast"? He loves hearing about and then, I imagine, thinking about food. So for him yogurt is a great food. Actually, for him any food seems great. He's easy to please. Let it be cheese. ketchup. pudding.ice cream. chocolate milk (hot chocolate, too) hot dogs.
We watched Calliou on the computer DVD Downloads from the library. High School musical (just the music part) and a Veggie Tale. Isaiah helped us with a service project with our small group (he helped wash windows) and in general, was as good as gold. For us. For his mother, that was a different story. He tried her patience. To the max. I'm sure my kids never fought or argued or whined or complained. I'm sure I never got tired or frustrated or discouraged. Amazing how much of my memory is gone!
Did I tell you we get them again toward the end of November when Nathan has some surgery. Now that will be a challenge. No parent to turn them back over to. It will be grandma and grandpa 24/7 Whoa!

Some Fall Days

Though our weather has been rainy and gloomy of late, there have been a few beautiful, typical fall days. There is still a lot out there to photograph, and sunny days left.
