New Project

We're the house in the neighborhood making the mess now. We've (i use that term lightly as I'm really not helping a lot. Just enough) started re shingling the roof of the house. First things first. The old has to come off. We have shake shingles so they are making a mighty mess. And there's nails in them to boot. Ron lost his memory card for his cell phone in them (how did that happen?) We have gutters, and metal pieces and wood over newly growing plants, and branches down and fully 3/4 of one side off. And today was cold too. At least it wasn't raining. He'd planned to start last night but it was snowing so he waited til this morning. And I know he won't work on it tomorrow. Thank goodness for Sunday and OC! We won't be putting shakes back up. Regular asphalt shingle will be expensive enough. Even the mailman got in on it this morning. He wanted to make sure we were putting on a 30 year shingle. Sheesh. Do I know this stuff? No. I know only enough to make me know I really don't like these kinds of jobs. With all we have going on we are going to be making a mess ALL summer.

Happy Anniversary

Yes, once upon a time, a handsome prince married the beautiful princess and they lived....well, in lots of places. And they were pretty happily ever after, though they had their moments like most of the kindom's marriages. It's just that they kept hanging on anyway, trusting that it was really God that had ordained them to be together. And they raised three handsome (one was pretty, not handsome) smart, funny, hard working children who were the lights of their lives. It's been 37 years. Ready for 37 more!

Spring Planting

When we lived on the acreage there were definite signs of the farmers' antsy-ness. They'd disc things up on the first nice day in March it seemed like. They were ready to have winter over and get at that field work. I'm sure they never planted tooo soon, but they were ready just in case. That's how I feel this year. I am getting antsy even though I know it's still a tad early. Oh well, I have pots to haul out. Dirt to put in and get ready. I feel like a farmer. I tell you there is nothing like flowers for the summer!

Better late than never!

My daffodils have finally started to bloom! They won't last long so here are a few shots for you to enjoy. Today was actually lovely for picture taking and I have many more i could post. Even as I write I am thinking about the next few that I need to get. I know this isn't a photography web site, but I enjoy the camera so much I can't help myself.

Second third and fourth verses...all Cactus!

Desert beauties. I love taking pictures of such variety! Who could imagine such wide ranging differences yet all cacti! We'll be heading to Arizona in a few weeks and I will take the camera along and hope for more pictures.
