Good ole summer time

Had A & W burger and rootbeer for supper tonight. I think my taste buds must be changing, or it's not the way I remembered things! The old A & W from my growing up years would have served the burger in a basket on a plastic tray hooked to your car window. The rootbeer would have come in a big frosty glass mug and would have tasted like... well, not like rootbeer out of a can anyway! For extra special treats we used to go to either A & W or the old Dog 'n Suds and picked up a whole gallon of rootbeer and some of their special ice cream to take home and make a 'black cow'. Ah. Those were delicious summer days ago. Tonight. It was mildly disappointing. The burgers came wrapped in a brown sack. The rootbeer was in a paper cup. The waitress handed them all to us through our car window, then used her calculator to figure the change. Well, I love the thought of it all anyway. The food did fill me up, but I guess I'll go somewhere else next time and make a new memory.

Work related!

Didn't I have fun yesterday!? Actually I was gone for a couple of days into libraryland. I spent several ??? maybe "many" is the word, getting ready for a presentation on podcasting! The hardest part was practicing what i was preaching. That is, actually doing a podcast and putting it up online. ( you can find it here!) I couldn't have done it by myself. Thanks to great librarians at OC library who are even more techie than I! Anyway, I gave two presentations and actually felt comfortable throught the whole thing. One thing that helps is for me to remember to be myself, not to present things in a way that they aren't (be honest in other words!) relax and just enjoy the experience. But it is over. I am glad. Now I can go back to doing regular "library" work. Whatever that is.

Ticks and pictures too

This evening i found a tick crawling on my head. ARGH! That can make me freak out. He attached himself to me because I went hiking in an abandoned farmstead this afternoon! You can hardly blame him, I doubt if he sees too many like me out in his neck of the woods. They are creatures of opportunity. It was, for me, the most perfect place to run across for taking pictures. I had my camera. The sun was out. I had no time schedule to meet. I was driving home from my meeting and I could not resist capturing what I saw. There isn't as much of this anymore as there was in the 80's. Enough though to make this sad. Western Iowa:

Here i am at jamboree!!

What's in momma's purse?

Well, i loved this post of Becky's and i couldn't resist sharing my purse, too! The thing is I've never really considered myself a "purse person". I always hated carrying the dumb things! But I do have certain specifications for carrying any: 1. have to have a long strap to put over the shoulder. 2. Must be big enough to hold a book or two. 3. Must not look too feminine! (is that possible?) Purses, like shoes, are very difficult for me to call 'cute'. They just are. Anyway, here's my stuff:

First is the purse itself:

Next is the junk inside! Can you figure all this important stuff out? And really, this is all that's in there!
